What we collect

  • Enquiry details: your name, email address, country, academic field, user type, word count, deadline, English variant, style guide and the message you write.
  • Documents: any file you upload to the submission form. Files are stored outside public web access under random file names.
  • Contact messages: the name, email address, user type and message you send through our contact form.
  • Newsletter: the email address you give us to receive weekly editing advice.
  • Security data: your IP address, used to limit repeated form submissions and to protect the site from abuse.

Cookies

This site uses one essential cookie, called pearl_session. It keeps forms secure, protects against cross-site request forgery, and keeps administrators logged in. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. If we add other cookies later, we will update this section and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Why we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quotation and deliver your edited work.
  • To send you the newsletter, if you have subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to an email.
  • To keep the site secure and to meet our legal and accounting duties.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We use a web hosting provider and an email service to run the site and send messages. We share information only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details and documents only for as long as they are needed for your order, our records and any legal duty. When they are no longer needed, we delete them. You can ask us to delete your documents sooner.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to some uses, or withdraw consent for the newsletter. Email info@pearlediting.org to make a request. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Keeping your work safe

The site uses HTTPS. Uploaded documents are stored in a private folder that cannot be opened from a web browser, and only our editing team can download them. Please do not send confidential material by email. Use the submission form instead.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date of the latest change is shown when you read it on this site.
