Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, send us a message.
How long does editing take?
Most documents are returned by the deadline you agree with us. Turnaround depends on length, complexity and our current workload. Tell us your deadline when you send the document, and we will confirm whether we can meet it.
How do I get a quote?
Use the Submit Manuscript form and include your word count if you know it, your academic field and your style guide. We reply with a quotation within 24 hours.
What will I receive after editing?
You receive two files. The tracked-changes version shows every edit and margin comment. The clean version has all changes accepted, so you can read the text as it will look.
Is my work kept confidential?
Yes. We store your document under a random file name, and only our editing team opens it. We do not share your work or your details with third parties. Read our privacy policy for the full details.
Do you edit in British or American English?
Both. Tell us which variant your university or journal expects, and we keep spelling and style consistent with it throughout.
Do you edit documents in every subject?
We work with a wide range of academic subjects. Tell us your field so we can match the terminology. We edit the language, clarity and structure of your writing. We do not check your data or your scientific conclusions.
Will you change my arguments or results?
No. We improve the language and presentation. If we see a point that is unclear, or that may be an error in the content, we flag it in a comment and leave the decision to you.
What is the difference between editing and proofreading?
Proofreading checks a near-final version for spelling, punctuation, typos and layout errors. Editing goes further and works on clarity, grammar, sentence structure and flow. We explain which one your document needs when we send your quote.
Can you help if English is my second language?
Yes. Many of our clients write in English as an additional language. We aim to make your meaning clear while keeping your voice and your technical terms.
How do I pay?
We send you the payment details in our reply once you approve the quotation. The payment method is confirmed in that email.
Do you offer refunds?
Our terms and conditions explain how cancellations and refunds work. Please read them before you place an order.
Which file types can I send?
You can send .doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .odt or .txt files up to 20 MB. Word files (.docx) work best because they show tracked changes clearly.
Still have a question?
